This would make the corridor much safer for everyone- thus saving lives- and also would save space and money. 2- Use 10' travel lanes as these help calm traffic, have been used all over the country and all over Missoula with great results. This would save money, space and lives. 3- Use cycle tracks instead of bike lanes, in order to keep a more compact roadway that would help keep speeds lower and give the street a more human scale/ pedestrian scale feeling. This would encourage more people on bikes and the lower speeds from a tighter, more compact roadway would save lives. 4- Utilize permeable paving wherever possible to improve water quality and save money by needing less storm water infrastructure. Permeable paving can be done with clay pavers (ADA compliant brick), psyllium (as used on one mile of trail in nearby Silver Park), and many other emerging solutions. 5- We prefer a posted speed limit of 25MPH with a design speed of 30MPH, in order to reduce crashes and save lives. If this is unfeasible or not politically possible, then the design speed should be 35MPH at the absolute highest (as stated in comment 1). 6- If cycle tracks cannot be used, then a minimum bicycle facility should be a buffered bike lane, in order to encourage more people on bicycles (which is city policy) and to increase safety of current bicycle riders. 7- Put in bus stops, as this will allow for more use of transit, thus improving air quality.
