February, 2014: Missoula continues on the journey towards sustainable transportation. Here are some hot topics: raised bike lanes will be part of the new Russell Street;
the urban mini roundabout at Scott Toole is working well except for some higher speeds from some drivers (this highlights the need to _not_ design roundabouts with 'fast exits' as is done much too often); the Missoula to Lolo trail has been approved with a $4million grant and is now in design; to sit or not to sit is going to the council floor at the end of February (MIST is a strong supporter of continuing to allow sitting on the sidewalks downtown). At Free Cycles, the shop is in the slow season yet we still see a constant stream of people needing help with their bicycles, which we are happy to provide. The Pedal Power Warehouse is getting reshaped to be ready for the upcoming summer season, a fun fundraiser will be on 2/28 with 3 local bands, and we are already forming a committee for the Tweed Ride next Fall. See you out on the streets, trails and public plazas...
