Wrapping Up 2014, Looking Ahead Towards Sustainable Transportation
As we wind down 2014, both Free Cycles and MIST are in good positions for a prosperous 2015. By prosperous, we mean able to help Missoula in a significant way. We are restructuring our spaces at Free Cycles to better serve all.The free and open community bicycle shop will remain in our current location on S.1st St W. We are likely moving out of the Warehouse at the end of the block and switching to a large shop space behind the community shop. This new space will have a focus on bicycle classes and bicycle sales.
At MIST, we are poised to usher in several street designs for 2015. We will be working with various community partners to propose that Higgins and Broadway in the downtown area are changed from 4-lane roads to 3-lane roads, thus gaining bikeways, safer pedestrian crossings and better motor vehicle flow.
We also plan to monitor the two psyllium trails.. one at Silver Park and the other at Greenough Park. The psyllium is a binder and decomposed granite is the aggregate. Non-toxic and sustainable paving is becoming an important aspect of MIST.
